Learn to Code

Our next workshop will be Saturday, November 21st, Sunday, November 22nd, and Saturday, December 5th.
Our workshops are a fun and enjoyable way for students to gain experience in computer programming, the workshops are led by professional software engineers who volunteer as workshop trainers to help students create five games and apps in the Ruby programming language.
Participants do not need to have any experience in computer programming – we’re looking for students who are curious about technology and willing to learn a new skill! Please help us encourage high schools students to apply by Wednesday, November 4th (midnight).
Workshop details are as follow:

  • Workshops include project-based learning, free lunch, snacks and giveaways!

Students who we were not able to accept for our October workshop are welcome to apply again! Our goal is to provide opportunities for students without access to computer science courses the opportunity to explore a new skill and learn to code!

Opportunity ​to join Youth Leadership Councils connected to several city agencies.

​You will be able to choose from sixteen different Youth Leadership Councils and work in partnership with adult leaders on a defined area of policy, practices and/or services that impact individuals and communities with a focus on youth. For more information or visit their website.

STEM Leadership Program for Girls

The programs are open to all self-identified high school girls and are free! More information is below and here on the YMCA website.

Times: 4:30-6:30 pm on Wednesdays OR 10:00am-12:30pm on Saturdays
Location: YWCA NYC, 500 W 56TH ST. (between 10th & 11th Aves), NY
Fee: Free!
